Currently only citizens from Kenya and Djibouti can enter Ethiopia without a visa for a period of up to one year and up to three months, respectively. Norwegian citizens need a visa in order to enter Ethiopia. Tourist visas are single entry only and are available for a 30 or 90-day stay. Travelers can choose the type when completing the application.

Travelers should be aware that a visa on arrival means waiting in line at border entry points upon arrival. Travelers must be sure to bring all the necessary documents with them to avoid being denied entry in the country. The eVisa allows travelers to skip these lines since they can fill out the application form online.
It is important to note that travelers who possess an eVisa must enter Ethiopia via Addis Ababa Bole International Airport. At this time, it is not possible to use the eVisa to enter through other ports.

These documents are required to obtain the Ethiopian visa for Norwegians:
- A passport valid for at least 6 months from the date of entry in Ethiopia
- A recent passport-size photo
To prevent delays in obtaining the visa or inconveniences upon entry in Ethiopia, applicants should make sure all the information provided is correct and accurate before submitting the application form.
Applicants will be required to provide the following information:
- Personal information:
- Full name
- Date of birth
- Country of birth
- City of birth
- Country of citizenship
- Passport details
- Country of issue
- Passport number
- Date of issue
- Expiry date
Dual nationals must choose a single passport to use on the application form and must present the same passport on arrival in Ethiopia. There should be no inconsistencies between the travel document and the information provided on the eVisa application.
The following documentation will be required upon arrival at Addis Ababa Bole International Airport:
- Printed copy of their Ethiopia eVisa (if applicable)
- A photocopy of passport
- Their passport (valid for at least 6 months from date of arrival)
- 2 blank pages remaining in the passport for stamps or notes from the immigration department
As previously mentioned, the tourist visa is valid for a single entry. This means that if travelers intend to leave the country and re-enter it before the visa expires, they need to apply for a new visa.

Norwegian travelers who have been traveling to countries with risk of yellow fever will have to present proof of vaccination.
How Long Does it Take to Get a Visa for Ethiopia from Norway?
The process for obtaining an eVisa is simple and fast, with visas being approved within 1 to 3 business days from the day of application online. Nevertheless, most visas get approved within 24 hours, if all provided information is accurate.
After accurately entering personal and passport details in the application form, applicants will need to answer a few health and security-related questions. Finally, they will be prompted to complete the online payment with a credit or debit card.
To make sure the visa is ready on time travelers are advised to submit their application at least 3 days before the date of arrival.
