As of June 1, 2018, citizens of most foreign countries can apply for the Ethiopia eVisa. This process was launched with the goal of streamlining the immigration process of visiting tourists and enhance national border security. In addition to this new system, citizens from eligible countries can also enter Ethiopia with a visa on arrival. Ghanaian nationals are able to get their electronic visa in a few simple steps.
Currently, citizens of Kenya can enter Ethiopia without a visa for up to one year while citizens of Djibouti can do so for up to three months. These are the only exceptions to the Ethiopia visa requirements. All other visitors, including nationals from Ghana, must hold a valid visa to enter the country.

Yes, Ghanaian citizens need a visa in order to enter Ethiopia. They can apply for a single-entry tourist visa, available for a 30 or 90-day stay.
Citizens with a Ghanaian passport have two options for obtaining a tourist visa for Ethiopia: eVisa and visa on arrival.
Ethiopia has recently extended the Visa-On-Arrival service for tourists from all African Union member states. However, travelers are encouraged to apply online as the process is faster and quite simple. Having an approved eVisa prior to the trip helps avoiding inconveniences upon arrival.
Travelers should be aware that a visa on arrival can require waiting in line at border entry points upon arrival. Visitors should also make sure to bring all the necessary documents with them to avoid being denied entry in the country. The eVisa allows travelers to skip these lines since the process is done entirely online.
It is important to note that travelers who possess an eVisa must enter Ethiopia via Addis Ababa Bole International Airport. Entry through any other port is currently not allowed with the online visa.
