Ethiopia Visa for Citizens of the UAE

Citizens of the United Arab Emirates who are planning to visit Ethiopia need to obtain a visa in order to enter the country.

It’s no longer necessary to apply for the traditional Ethiopia visa for UAE citizens in person at an embassy or consulate. The eVisa offers a convenient way for Emirati nationals to apply for and obtain a visa while still in their home country. Do UAE Citizens Need a Visa for Ethiopia?

Ethiopian visa conditions require all UAE nationals to have a valid visa to enter the country. Emiratis applying for the visa need a current passport with at least six months duration, counting from the day of planned arrival in Ethiopia.

The Ethiopia tourist visa for Emirati citizens has two options, 30 days or 90 days, to suit both applicants who are making a brief visit and those planning a long stay.

Note that all Ethiopian eVisas are single-entry visas which will expire when the traveler exits Ethiopia. In order to reenter Ethiopia, United Arab Emirates nationals will need to apply for a visa again. Multiple-entry visas must be arranged via the nearest Ethiopian embassy or consulate.

Travelers are able to extend their visa while still in Ethiopia by physically going to the Main Immigration and Nationality Affairs Office in Addis Ababa. The extension application should be made at least a week prior to the current visa expiry date to ensure a successful visa extension. For Emirati nationals transiting through Ethiopia, no transit visa is required, but travelers must remain in the airport at all times.

Documents Required to Obtain the Ethiopian Visa for Emirati Citizens

The process of applying for an Ethiopian eVisa is simple and straightforward, but it is crucial that applicants meet all visa requirements. The complete list of documents for an Ethiopian visa for Emirati citizens includes:

  • Valid passport with at least 6 months of validity from the date you intend to enter the country
  • A recent passport-size digital photo: the photo must be in color, a front view with clear, full face from the top of the hairline to chin and eyes open
  • A scanned copy of passport biographical page
  • Credit card or debit card for visa fee payment

 

As part of the Ethiopia visa requirements for UAE citizens, some applicants may have to submit additional documents, depending on factors such as recent travel history. The documents include:

  • Yellow Fever Vaccination Certificate
  • Proof of travel insurance
  • Recent bank statement of sufficient funds

 

Travelers who have recently visited a country with a risk of yellow fever must provide a vaccination certificate. For vaccine recommendations for Ethiopia or other travel warnings, consult the latest advice from the Ministry of Health in the UAE at least 8 weeks prior to traveling.

Children aged 14 or over or those traveling on a separate passport will need their own visa application.   • A consent letter confirming the permission for the child to travel alone or accompanied by one parent

How Long Does It Take to Get a Visa for Ethiopia from UAE?

It generally only takes 1-3 business days for an Ethiopia visa from United Arab Emirates to be approved. Once applicants have submitted all the required documents and information, the Ethiopian authorities will screen the application, documents, and fee payment. The process may sometimes take longer due to application errors or other problems. It is therefore advisable to allow at least 7 days for the visa to be processed and to apply well in advance of travel.

Any communications or notifications regarding the visa will be sent to UAE nationals via email when applying from their home country. The visa confirmation will also be sent this way and an electronic copy of the visa will be sent to the applicant’s email address.

Ethiopia Visa Application for Emirati Citizens

There are a few brief questions necessary for the Ethiopian visa application for UAE citizens which will only take a few minutes to answer. These are regarding passport information, travel plans, and health history, as well as a small number of security questions to protect public safety.
