To obtain an eVisa it is necessary to meet the basic Ethiopia visa requirements. To make the initial application it is only necessary to provide your passport details and make a payment using a credit or debit card. The following supporting documentation can be provided later on:

 

  • A copy of the biographical page of your passport
  • A copy of your residency card (if applicable)
  • A recent passport-style color photo

 

The approved eVisa can be used to gain entry into Ethiopia at Addis Ababa Bole International Airport. Applicants must meet the Ethiopia entry requirements by presenting a printed copy of the passport, along with the corresponding passport (which must have at least six (6) months remaining from the date of arrival).

Personal information requirements

Applicants are required to enter a range of personal information in order to complete the application. Some of the information required is considered highly-sensitive and includes the applicant’s name, date of birth, gender, passport details, health information, and nationality.

The information provided during the application process must be accurate. Incorrect information could lead to applications being delayed and even denied.

Ethiopia eVisa eligible countries

The Ethiopia eVisa is available to all eligible passport holders from every country in the world. It is necessary to have at least six months remaining from the date of arrival in Ethiopia to apply.

There are two nationalities who can enter Ethiopia without a visa. Kenyans can enter for up to a (1) year, and citizens of Djibouti can enter for up to three (3) months, visa-free.
